Welcome To FoodCare Orange
Serving Orange since 2013

Shop smarter and make your budget go further by shopping at the FoodCare Orange shop located at 142 March Street Orange. FoodCare provides non-perishable food, fresh fruit and vegetables, milk, bread, eggs, and other groceries along with household items to people on a low income or experiencing financial hardship.Food is affordable and much of it is free.

Local community service agencies can use our service by purchasing vouchers to share with clients.

FoodCare is open Tuesday to Friday 10.30 am to 1 pm and again on Thursday afternoons 4.30 pm to 6.00 pm.

Visit us to shop, socialise and learn more. Don’t forget to bring your reusable bags!

If you would like to book a lift on our free bus service which runs on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, you must book your seat no later than 4pm the day before. We can then schedule a pick up or drop off to and from the shop. Click on the transport button for more information.

Our hygiene process is slightly different now.

  • Use the hand sanitizer on arrival at the store
  • Limited numbers of customers will be allowed into the shop at any one time

Our volunteers are people who:

  • Have a genuine desire to assist those experiencing food insecurity
  • Have good inter-personal skills
  • Are able to stand for some hours
  • Are able to carry boxes/trays of about 5 to 10 kg
  • Are willing to commit to a regular shift (fortnightly in the shop).

How You Can Help

FoodCare would not survive without the many committed community volunteers who contribute hundreds of hours of service each month.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer call us on 0447 577 884 or drop in to see us at 142 March Street, Orange on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday from 10.30 am – 1 pm or Thursday from 4.30 pm – 6 pm. We will show you around and ask you to complete a registration form.

Your time commitment may be as little as an hour a week, or at the most, five hours a fortnight. You will need to complete a NSW Police Check and a Working with Children Check to volunteer with FoodCare. The cost of the Police check will be reimbursed.

We need help with:

  • Working in the shop
  • Unpacking the weekly stock delivery
  • Collecting donated food
  • Driving the bus
  • Joining the committee
  • Gardening at the ELF (Orange showground)

ware-on-waste

War On Waste

FoodCare in partnership with NetWaste strongly supports the principle of increasing community awareness about the amount of avoidable food waste currently occurring in homes, businesses and on farms. Through initiatives such as Love Food Hate Waste, FoodCare and Netwaste are able to spread this message to the broader community.

“We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land where we work and live, the people of the Wiradjuri Nation and pay our respects to Elders past and present. We celebrate the stories, culture and traditions of our First Nation’s People and of all communities who also work and live on this land.”

Our Valued Customers

Our Amazing Volunteers

Our Great Food Donors

Foodbank

Foodbank is the largest food relief organisation in Australia. They source food from retailers, manufacturers and farmers. We order and purchase from Foodbank on a weekly basis. We purchase some items locally so that customers have less need to go to other shops for the basics.

Donated Food

We receive donated food from a number of local retailers, producers. and home gardeners. We pass this food on to our customers free of charge. We thank everyone who donates and our Facebook page is regularly updated to share our appreciation.

Financial Support

Financial support through donations is an integral part of the success of FoodCare. We are particularly reliant on financial donations to enable us to purchase fresh fruit and vegetables to supplement what we are able to collect from supermarkets.

Ordering Vouchers

Service providers can order vouchers for their clients who may be food insecure by phoning 0447 577 884. You will be invoiced when the vouchers have been redeemed at the shop. Why not order some today?
